FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. How do we check in/check out.

It is not necessary to check in or out. Registered guests will receive a door code with their booking confirmation, and again 48 hours prior to the scheduled arrival day. Please arrive after 4 pm on your arrival day. Enjoy our late checkout and depart by 1 pm on your departure day. 

2. What should we bring for the kitchen?

The rentals come fully furnished with dishes, utensils, pans, toaster, dish soap, napkins, paper towels, coffee maker, and coffee. If you plan on doing any cooking, you will need to basic bring items like cooking oils, spices, butter, eggs, etc. There is a gas grill and pot boiler on the wharf if you prefer to grill outside.

3. Where can I buy groceries? 

Skamokawa Resort is within walking distance and has some basic items during daytime hours. A small grocery store in Cathlamet is 6 miles away.

4. Do we need to bring towels?

We provide bath, kitchen and hand towels for the rentals, but they need to stay in the rental. Please bring beach towels or any towels that you may need outside.

5. Do we need to bring toiletries?

We provide toilet paper and hand-washing soap. Guest will need to bring their own bath soap, shampoo, and personal bath items.

6. How many cars can we bring?

We allow two cars per rental. Please let us know if you need additional space.

7. Do you allow pets?

Sorry, we do not allow pets in the rentals, hallway or stairway.

8. Is there RV, boat or trailer parking?

 Parking may be available. Please give us a call in advance.

9. Is smoking allowed?

No, we do not allow smoking or open flames anywhere on the property. If you choose to smoke, you will need to go to the street. If smoking is detected in the rental, hall or stairway you will be asked to leave and forfeit your booking and damage deposit.

10. How do I get to the rental units?

You can access the rentals by taking the walkway on the west side (right) of the building and proceeding to the 2nd door on the left. The rentals are on the 2nd floor, so guests will need to walk up a stairway. 

11. Do you have cable TV?

Each apartment has internet TV. You are welcome to use our YoutubeTV, Amazon and Netflix accounts, or to sign in to your own. Please be sure to sign out of your personal accounts before you depart.

12. Is internet available?

Yes, Wi-Fi is provided and has adequate speeds. The password is on the laminated card under the TV remote.

13. Can we access to the floating dock? Can we go swimming?

The floating dock is for kayaking and boating access. If accessing the dock, children must be supervised and wearing a personal flotation device. 

The dock is not safe for swimming. The river is deep with very strong currents that can pull people and pets under the docks and wharf, and into pilings. Vista Park is more appropriate for swimming. The park has a half mile of sandy beach. Be aware of drop offs, swift currents and large ships that can suck water out and create large wakes.

14. Can we book the great room on the north side of the building?

The great room is currently occupied and not available for rental or viewing.

15. Can we book a wedding or large event at Viewpoint Landing?

We are not hosting any weddings or large events at this time.

16. Is there room service?

Viewpoint Landing is a vacation rental, not a hotel. If you have an emergency, a maintenance request or an urgent need, please call 360-329-2622.

17. Is there food available?

No food is sold at the landing. Please see local attractions on the website for a list of food options.

18. Are there trails or places to bike?

Yes. Viewpoint Landing is surrounded by two wildlife refuges. There are paved and gated gravel roads that travel around the through the refuge and offer a great for experiencing nature and getting some exercise. Nearby Vista Park has a beach, trails and a playground. 

19. How do we book with Columbia River Kayaking?

Columbia River Kayaking offers tours and instruction, and can even offer custom tours and experiences. Book in advance at  columbiariverkayaking.com

20. Can we rent a kayak without booking a tour?

Due to strong tides, currents and changing weather, Columbia River Kayaking requires a guide. 

21. What to bring?

Remember that you will probably want to spend some time outdoors along the refuge or at the beach at Vista Park. Bring clothing layers for a variety of conditions. Consider bringing bikes, beach towels, lawn chairs and life jackets. During the summer season, bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and small coolers. 

22. Do the suites have air conditioning?

Due to the proximity to the ocean and the constant flow of cool marine air in the summer, the suites rarely require air conditioning to stay cool. In the event the forecast calls for extreme heat, we will gladly reschedule your booking.

22. What should I clean prior to departure?

We do not require that you do any cleaning, but please don't leave food out. You are welcome to run the dishwasher or take your garbage to the dumpster on the east side of the building.
